The release of Namitha starrer ‘Jaganmohini’ has
been postponed from September 25 to the first week of November thanks
to unavoidable reasons, say reliable sources.
Produced by H Murali and directed by N K
Viswanathan, the film is a remake of yesteryear hit of the same title
directed by Vittalacharya. Graphic works and the musical score of
Illayaraja are touted to be the highlights of the movie.
Namitha plays the role enacted by Jeyamalini in the original while the rest of the cast includes Nila and Tollywood actor Raja.
Says the director, “What started as a small venture
has become a big fare. Thanks to technological development, we have
succeeded in coming out with a movie that would be on par with
international standards.”
“No sooner did he see the first few scenes of the
movie, than Illayaraja commenced the re-recording work. Special rhythm
players were flown-in from Mumbai and the work was completed in 12
days,” he informs.
On roping in Namitha, he says, “when we decided to
do the remake of ‘Jaganmohini’, Namitha was the name that popped up in
our mind immediately. She combines glamour with performance. Also, due
credit should be given to Raja and Meera Chopra, who have played their
parts well.’
