Rana’s Leader shooting stalled by Telangana agitators

Daggubati Rana’s leader film under the direction of Shekhar Kammula is in the final stage of shooting and that is currently taking place at Godhavarkani OCP3 in Karimnagar district. Some of the Telangana agitators from the Singareni mine area are tried to stall the shooting of that movie by attacking the unit. When hero Rana interfered that he never objected the cause of Telangana, they withdrew their agitation. And asked the hero to say Jai Telangana to which hero Rana did the same and the shooting have begun again this morning (Monday, January 04, 2010).This movie has completed the censor recently and it is going to release soon.

Shah Rukh Khan joins Twitter

After Karan Johar, Priyanka Chopra and Preity Zinta, now Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has joined social networking site Twitter.

"Being extremely shy, I never thought I would be here (on Twitter). But my friend Karan Johar insisted that I should learn to share my life," Shah Rukh posted on his Twitter page.

"Thanks everyone, this is really sweet…didn’t expect such a warm welcome. Love to you all," he added.

The superstar was hardly seen on big screen in 2009 except in Billu, and explaining the reason behind his absence, he wrote: "Injury has kept me away from making more films. Will work my back off to be around more… the shoulder feels strong and so do I."

In February last year, Shah Rukh underwent an arthroscopic surgery for acute pain in his left shoulder at the Breach Candy hospital in south Mumbai.

He is now gearing up for the release of his much-talked about film My Name Is Khan which also stars Kajol.

Releasing February 12, the film’s story revolves around Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh) who suffers from Asperger syndrome, a form of autism. Rizwan falls in love with a single mother Mandira (Kajol) who lives in San Francisco. Rizwan is detained by authorities at Los Angeles International Airport, mistaking his disability for "suspicious" behaviour.

Right now Shah Rukh is enjoying his holiday with wife and children.

"Kids and life calling…watching Tim Burton’s ’9’ (animated fantasy film directed by Shane Acker) with them…last holiday…so up late…catch up later…," he wrote in his latest posting.(IANS)

Global faculty for Rahman’s school

A R Rahmans K M Conservatory in Chennai is getting bigger. The school for music will have international faculty, in a bid to give the students global exposure of music.

Harpist Alison Maggart, percussionist Michael Lindsey, soprano Kavita Baliga, pianists Andrew Thordahl and Das Daniel, violinists Joshua Pollack and George Philips and cellist Ellid Martin will form part of the schools faculty team.

Founded by Rahman, the aim of K M Conservatory is to fulfill the dreams of the Mozart of Madras- taking music to the younger generation and producing world class musicians.

Apart from students who are learning music by paying fees, the school also teaches free of cost music lessons to students from the schools run by the Corporation of Chennai. It is planning to admit more students in the future, sources close to Rahman say.

Namo Venkatesa Audio release on 5th

Sankranthi blockbuster release of Victory Venkatesh’s Namo Venkatesa is complete family entertainer. Tollywood hero Rana in Hindi film

Bollywood Producer-director Rohan Sippy’s gritty, hard-hitting film on the drug racket in Goa, inspired by Hollywood’s Traffic, has finally found a second hero.The role, which was initially offered to Farhan Akhtar and Emraan Hashmi, has now gone to Rana Daggubati, the Telugu star-on-the-rise, based in Hyderabad. Abhishek Bachchan is playing the lead role in the film.

Rana is a rage in the Telugu film industry after he made his acting debut with the hard-hitting political thriller, Leader. He was chosen to play Abhishek Bachchan’s co-star because he fit the bill.

A source says, “It is the character of a Goan musician. When Rohan saw Rana’s picture, he was stuck by how Goan the Telugu actor looked. The Sippys saw Rana’s film, Leader, and knew he was right. The role is as powerful as Abhishek’s.”

The formalities were completed last week. Incidentally, Rana is not new to the film world. He comes from an illustrious film family. His grandfather is Andhra-based producer D Rama Naidu (who has produced 110 films including superhits in Hindi like Prem Nagar and Tohfa). His father is a distinguished producer Suresh Babu, while his uncle is the popular Telugu star Venkatesh.

Rana will now be another South Indian actor trying his luck in Hindi films after the likes of Kamal Haasan. Rajnikant, Chiranjeevi and Rana’s uncle, Venkatesh (who was launched opposite Karisma Kapoor in Anari by his father D Rama Naidu in 1993).

Rohan Sippy confirmed the casting, “Yes, I have signed Rana for the film I am directing.”

Telangana Title For Film

As per sources,Maruti Movies banner is making a movie titled as "Baanchan Nee Kaalmoktha" with Inkennalu is the tagline. This film will not only reflect the culture, tradition and customs of it’s people but also will have the cast and crew from Telangana. Regular shooting will begin after Sankranthi. Ramesh Tummala is the director. M. Jaswanth Reddy is the producer.

Srikanth Signed New Flick With Laughing Lords Entertainments

Srikanth is all set to begin his immediate film from January 9th. New banner Laughing Lords will produce his next film. N Balaji Sai is directing this one, which will have three heroines opposite Srikanth. "We will show Srikanth in different avatar from what we have seen him Operation Duryodhana or Mahatma. We are making it with good budget and filming it in various locations like Sikkim and Nepal," producer Murali Krishna told the media.
