Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan has acted with almost every actress in the film industry but not with the hot and happening Katrina Kaif who has a string of hits under her belt. It would be a treat to see these talented actors together on the big screens but that's not going to happen soon, as Katrina Kaif has refused to act with Hrithik.

The grapevine is abuzz with the news that Katrina refused to act opposite Hrithik in the sequel of the hit film Krrish. The reason she gave was that its shooting schedules clashed with that of Karan Johar’s Dostana sequel.

Sources said that Rakesh Roshan decided to go for Deepika Padukone after Katrina turned down his offer. Well, Katrina's loss is Deepika's gain!

The much-awaited film Saleem starring Vishnu and Ileana has finally hit the screens. Story: Saleem(Vishnu) is a gangster. Satya(Ileana) is the daughter of landlord(Napoleon). Saleem incidentally meets Satya and falls in love with her. Saleem also wins the confidence of Satya's family members. Saleem proposes to Satya. But, Satya doesn't reciprocate to his proposal. After a point of time Satya pretends that she is in love with Saleem. Meanwhile, Napoleon arranges Satya's marriage with Bharat Reddy. Saleem discovers that Bharat Reddy has come to take revenge on Satya's family and kills him. All these consequences force Napoleon to ask Saleem to marry her daughter, as he thinks that Saleem can only protect his daughter from his rivals. When everything seems to be going smoothly, Satya runs away from home. The story takes a surprising turn here. Satya is in love with Ogirala Jogaiah's(Mohan Babu) brother Venkat. Ogirala Jogaiah is a mafia don. Satya wants to marry Venkat and settle in Europe. Saleem tries to bring Satya back home. In the meantime, he happens to meet his old rival Ogirala Jogaiah. What's the rivalry between Saleem and Ogirala Jogaiah? Does Saleem suceed in bringing Satya back home? forms the rest of the story. Performances: Vishnu: He has gone for a complete make over in this film. He looks at his best. He has shown good ease and excels in fights and dances. He needs to work on his dialogue delivery. Ileana: She looks gorgeous in the film. Her impressive histrionics will surely win the hearts of the Telugu film lovers once again. She is definitely an asset to the film. Her costumes in the film were trendy. Mohan Babu: He fails to impress. Kaveri Jha adds to the glamour quotient of the film. Ali's comedy track is hilarious. Napolean as a rich landlord is good. Mukesh Rushi goes wasted in the film. Ali, Venkat and rest of the cast did their roles to content. Plus Points: Ileana Songs Picturization Cinematography Minus Points: Mohanbabu Direction Music Technical Departments: Cinematography is of top notch. Songs by Sandeep Chowta are just Okay. Screenplay is good. Editing could have been better. Production values of the film are grand. Direction is good in parts. Analysis: The first half of the film is just Okay. Though the interval bang aroused some curiosity, the director failed to capitalize on it. The second half tests the patience of audience. Saleem has some stylish, slick and latest taking but it lacks both making the drama drab and also proves that YVS is out of form. What excels in the film is the picturization of songs. YVS always has a trademark name associated with songs and he kept up his standards. The film consists of good fight sequences. YVS Chowdary is successful only in showing the glamour of Ileana. He failed completely as a writer & director. The director has unnecessarily wasted lot of time to show the glamour of heroines. Verdict: Not so impressive!

‘Rocket Singh…’ to be screened at Dubai film fest

YashRaj Films’ Rocket Singh - Salesman Of The Year, slated for Dec 11 release in India, has been selected to be screened at the 6th edition of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF).

The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and helmed by Chak De! India director Shimit Amin, will be part of the Indian cinema section in Out of Competition DIFF programme.

"Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year" is the story of a graduate trying to find a balance between the demands of the professional life and his love life.

Balakrishna new look in ‘Simha’

It is well known that Balakrishna is playing the hero in ‘Simha’, which is directed by Boyapati Sreenu and produced by Paruchuri Kireeti under the banner of United Movies.

Presently the film is being shot in Hyderabad at a brisk pace. Director Boyapati Sreenu says, “Already shooting of the first half of the film is over and the scenes that appear in the second half are being shot now. Nayanatara had just joined the shooting and she is playing a key role.”

“As the story demanded there would be three heroines while Sneha Ullal and Namita are playing the other two roles. Regarding Balakrishna’s role, he will appear with a fresh look and the audiences could find a new Balakrishna in this film. There are some nice action episodes and the fights would also be novel. I wish the film would give me a hat trick,” adds the director.

Producer Paruchuri Kireeti says, “When the director says it would be a grand film, I feared a bit in the beginning. However, with the cooperation that was extended by Balakrishna and the planning from our director, everything is going on smoothly. We are planning to release the film in summer.”

NRI files case against star couple

According to sources a case filed against Suriya and Jyothika to stall the construction work in their land in T Nagar came up for hearing at the High Court of Madras. It is said that an NRI filed a petition claiming that he has a share in the said land and a case pertaining to it has already been filed. However, Suriya and Jyothika purchased the disputed land and began the construction.

The aggrieved petitioner filed a suit to stay the construction until the court decides the issue. When this issue came up for hearing, the judge ordered that the construction work can go on, but the defendants should adhere to the final decision. The case has been posted for hearing during the second week of January.

Saleem release may postpone to December 12

Allu Arjun’s Varudu On March 26th

Varudu, the new film in the combination of Allu Arjun and Gunashekar, is slated for summer release. Producer Danayya announced that he is planning to release it on March 26th. “We have finished major part of the shooting now except the picturisation of two songs and little bit of talkie part. So are planning to release the audio in February and the movie on March 26th,” Danaiah said.

Gunashekar informed that recently a huge fight sequence under the direction of action choreographer Stun Shiva was filmed for about 15 days. Tamil hero Arya is playing the negative role in the movie.

Allu Aravind’s production house Geetha arts bags the AP rights of the movie “Avatar“. Geetha Arts has paid a sum of 4 crores to bag this movie rights. They will distribute the movie all over AP, except for the IMAX screen in Prasads, Hyderabad. Twentieth Century-Fox Corporation are having the rights to screen the film in IMAX screen in Hyderabad. Nagarjuna, who is to Greece to shoot for a song for his forthcoming film Kedi, has been felicitated by representatives of the Greece government in Milos Island, in the presence of media.

A representative said "It is a great day for us in the Greece tourism department. We feel proud that Nagarjuna has come here for shooting. We feel lucky that we are felicitating him on the eve. We express our thanks to Kamakshi Kala Movies and Annapurna Studios for giving us this opportunity." Did ‘Leader’ cost more?

Rana Daggubati’s debut film, “Leader” has reportedly cost Rs.18.5 crores! Though there has been no confirmation as yet from the makers about the film’s budget, the grapevine suggests that the film is a lavish production from the AVM. Produced by M.Saravanan, M.S.Guhan, Aruna Guhan and Aparna Guhan, the film marks the debut of Daggubati Rana.

A socio-political drama, the film has reportedly been made at a whopping cost. However, several scenes of the film had to be shot in the Assembly, since it’s a political thriller. The film wasn’t given the permission to shoot in the Assembly and Shekhar Kammula, AVM Productions decided to erect an “Assembly Set”. This led to an increase in the budget along with several other factors.

Rana plays the Chief Minister in the film. It has music by Mickey J Meyer and art by Thota Tharani. The film will release across the state and overseas on December 31st.

RaviTeja-Krishna Vamsi’s film in 2010

Ravi Teja and Krishna Vamsi’s are getting ready for making a film and is titled ‘Kandireega’. This film will go on sets in 2010. Previously the film was expected to go on floors in November. But as of now, the scripts are not confirmed and raviteja is busy with other projects.

In ‘Kandireega’ Ravi Teja plays the role of a man of Sri Krishnadeva Raya’s bloodline. While Krishna Vamsi is going to show his courage by adding fantasy to this film. The other cast and crew are yet to be Known.

RGV nips controversy, by courting another?

Controversy has turned another name for producer-director Ram Gopal Varma. He seems to move effortlessly from one to the other. The Jana Gana Mana in his Rann created a lot of controversy, so RGV has confirmed he will replace it. With what? Vande Mataram!

When RGV had revealed the first look of Rann with Jana Gana Mana, he explained that the lyrics of the national anthem were altered to give it a new socio-political dimension. But the matter reached the censor board and even the courts. While the censor board instructed Varma to refrain from telecasting the promo, producers Madhu Mantena and Sheetal Vinod Talwar had registered a civil case in the Mumbai High Court against the board’s ruling.

In fact, the makers of the films had even sent copies of the music video to MPs to show that they were in no way hurting national sentiments. “It made no sense in defending the song as enough noise was being made on it. So we decided to replace it and move on,” RGV said now.

But he is on the verge of starting a new controversy by including Vande Mataram as its replacement. “We have used just the two words ‘Vande Mataram’. I don’t see anything controversial in this since it stands for ‘I bow to thee, Mother’. Tell me, what’s wrong in using that?” Varma remained defiant.(DC)

Geetha Arts bags ‘Avatar’ AP rights!

Geetha Arts has bagged the entire rights for James Cameroon’s “Avatar” for a whopping sum of Rs.4 Crores. They will distribute the movie all over AP, except for the IMAX screen in Prasads, Hyderabad. Twentieth Century-Fox Corporation already had the rights to screen the film in IMAX screen in Hyderabad.

The movie has been produced with a budget of more than $250 million and is one of the most expensive movies ever made in the history of world cinema. The makeup and appearance of the characters in the film has led to intense speculation.

Rumour is that the film is based on Indian epic, Ramayana and the character is based on Lord Rama. 60% of the film is filled with visual effects and the other 40% is live action. The movie will hit the screens all over the world on December 18th. In AP, it will be released in Telugu, Hindi and English versions.

‘Vedam’ moved to March

Due to the big films like Adurs, Saleem, Leader, Bindaas, Om Shanti, Kedi and Namo Venkatesa etc releasing in december-january, The Vedam movie is postponed to March. Previously it has been planned for sankranti release. This is a multi starrer movie with Allu Arjun and Manchu Manoj in the lead roles. Krish is directing the film.

Anushka is playing a lead role in the film. The film has five important characters and there is a lot of buzz that Krish is adopting a new screenplay technique, which has never been experimented in Telugu cinema before. Manoj Bajpai is also playing a crucial role in the film. Devineni and Sobha Yarlagadda will jointly produce the film on Arka Media banner. Keeravani is composing the music. We will have to wait till March to see what ‘Vedam’ has in it.

‘Leader’ Postponed to Dec 31st

Rana Daggubati’s ‘Leader’ is gearing for its release on December 31st. Richa and Priya Anand are making their debut in Telugu film industry. The post production work is going on briskly.

According to our sources, Shekar Kammula is keen to release the film this year itself, since the theme of the film is relevant to the current political scenario. The film is being planned for its release on December 21st, but the post production of the film would need more time. Hence, the film will be releasing on December 31st.

Shekhar Kammula, who has also written the story apart from directing this film, is said to be very confident about ‘Leader’. Mickey J Meyer has composed the music for this film. Thota Tharani is handling the art direction and production design and Vijay C.Kumar is handling the camera.

The audio of the film was launched recently in Hyderabad and got a heavy response. The film has been produced by M.Saravanan, M.S.Guhan, Aruna Guhan and Aparna Guhan under AVM Productions banner. ‘Leader’ is AVM’s 174th movie.

‘Saleem’ releasing with 295 prints

Vishnuvardhan and Ileana starrer ‘Saleem’ has completed its Censor.The censor board has given U/A to this film. YVS Chowdary is directing the film. Mohan Babu is producing the film under Sri Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures and Big Films is jointly producing the film.

The producers are said to be quite happy with the final output of the film. ‘Saleem’ will hit the screens across the world on December 11th with 295 prints. The prints also include 102 digital prints. The film has been made with a budget of Rs.23 crores.

Mohan Babu is doing a negative role in the film and Kaveri Jha will also be seen in the film. Sandeep Chowta has composed the music for the film. Cinematography by C. Ramprasad, lyrics by Chandrabose, art by Anand Sai, action by Vijay and editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao.

Nagarjunas Kedi on Jan 9?

Nagarjuna's film Kedi, directed by Kiran Kumar, is all set to hit the theatres on January 9, a few days prior to the Sankranthi festival. The date was declared by Kamakshi Kala Movies recently.

Only recently was the title Kedi officially announced in a press meet, by Nagarjuna. Kedi's nearest Telugu translation would be 'an embezzler.' So, is Nag playing a racketeer kinda role in the film? As per the Yuvasamrat, his character has many shades to it. Thus, he is more than a kedi, and not limited to being one.

Nag's fans are getting ready for more action. The film's release on the 9th of next month is pegged at as the biggest release. Moreover, the charmer in his late 40s is definitely eager to make his mark at the box office.

Gowthami wants roles

In the case of Gowthami, filmmakers were convinced that she had stopped acting. However, the yesteryear actress feels that she never did overtly delcare that she did not want to act again. The actress, close to her friend Kamal Haasan, has recently confessed that she nurtures an ambition to do character roles in films, again. The actress was seen in a 1999 Kannada film Cheluva after a long time.

Like some of her contemporaries like Radhika, she too has decided to bag opportunities that came her way on the small screen. Resultantly, she is doing a role in Tamil sop Abirami, produced by Abirami Ramanathan. About the role, Gowthami herself said that she was playing a woman with high self-esteem.

Saying that she did not ever bid adieu to films, Gowthami commented that the producers themselves thought that she had stopped acting.

"I am ever-ready to act again if good opportunities come my way," she was reported as saying.
